Find nearby friends using your location
With Telegram, you have the option to share your location with your contacts. This can be useful when you need to meet up with friends on a date. To do this, go to the Contacts section, then tap on People nearby. In order to be able to use this feature, you must first activate it in your smartphone's settings. Your contact will also need to authorize theapplication to access your device's location.
5. Get in touch with all the Telegram users around you
Access to this feature allows you to view
er all Telegram users around you, as well as discussion groups that you can join. Good to know: You can define how long your location can be shared with a contact. 3 options are available: for 15 minutes, one hour or up to 8 hours. If you no longer want this information to be broadcast, turn off the location service in your device settings.
6. Start Secret Chat Safely on Telegram
To initiate a secret exchange with one of your contacts on Telegram, here is the path to follow depending on your smartphone:
if you have an iOS smartphone: tap on your contact's profile picture, then on the three dots to the right of their name, select Start a secret exchange and confirm,
if you have an Android smartphone: tap on the 3 menu bars located at the top left of your screen, select New secret exchange and the name of the contact with whom you want to exchange securely.
Messages and documents exchanged in a secret conversation are end-to-end encrypted and do not appear on Telegram's servers, unlike other exchanges, individual, group or in a channel. Secret chats are not in the application cloud, as is the case with the rest of the messages sent. To be sure that your discussion corresponds to a secret exchange, the name of your interlocutor must be preceded by a closed padlock.
7. Read incognito messages on Telegram
If you don't want one of your contacts to see that you've read their message, there is a tip:
Activate your smartphone's airplane mode when you receive a message,
Open the Telegram application and read the message,
Close the app and turn off airplane mode.
8. Hide your last connection to Telegram
If you don't want your friends to know if you're currently online on Telegram or when you last logged in to the app, you can hide this information in Settings> Privacy and security> Presence. As with the restricted display of your phone number, 3 choices are available:
Everybody,
My contacts,
No one.
Telegram specifies on this subject:
You won't be able to see the last attendances of people you don't share yours with. An approximation will be displayed instead (recently, this week, this month).
You can add an exception here too: "Never visible for" by selecting the corresponding contact.
9. Lock access to conversations on Telegram
If you want to add an extra level of protection to your Telegram account, you can lock access to all of your conversations. To activate this feature, go to Settings> Privacy and security> Passcode lock. On the next page, the user is prompted to enter their access code, which will allow them to unlock access to their conversations. The tip: Find a password that's easy to remember, because Telegram says, “If you forget your code, you will need to remove and reinstall the app. All secret exchanges will be lost
Once the transaction is completed, return to the list of your exchanges. At the top of your screen, an open padlock is displayed. Tap on it to completely lock access to your chats. This feature can be very useful if you have to lend your smartphone or if you just want to keep your conversations private when you are in the presence of other people.
